This Week's Mission Activity 8/25/2010

We are servants of God by serving others. We share a responsibility to bring God's love to hurting people. We are Cancun Christian Fellowship, an outreach fellowship of believers dedicated to showing people, through our teaching, actions and love, the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

Remember to look at the new pictures on the website: http://www.cancunchristianfellowship.com/  and also check out our BlogSite.

This past week we received a needed donation from a new international mission partner in San Antonio. Daren and I have been friends for twenty years and one of these days, I know that he and his wife Chris will visit our church. Thanks guys.

“Hey Tom, received your email on the Cancun Christian Fellowship. That is just great work you and Cherilyn are providing. I am happy to see you guys are doing well and have taken an interest in the lives of all the people there. Keep in touch and God Bless. Daren & Chris”

Speaking of new missions partners, Cherilyn’s friend Teresa Weatherly has joined our international family through her donation to our mission activity at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. Cherilyn does not want me to tell you how long she has known Teresa. Thank you Teresa!

Four cases of milk and forty cans of Tuna were purchased and delivered to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza today. We also delivered toys donated by our own TV Celebrity “Anna” and other items donated by Lory Kelly. What a great day we had today.

TJ and Nina visited the orphanage this week to help Nina get her feet on the ground and help her decide where her talents are most needed. Thanks TJ and good luck Nina. Glad to have you on board.

Good news…Roy Elliott, our international partner from the UK, is in the area and attended the men’s group meeting today. After the meeting, Roy and I did orphanage shopping at Bodega Aurrera, got the printing done for our Sunday service, had a great lunch at Market 28 and paid a visit to the orphanage. We are happy that Roy got to see his donation in action. We hope all of you will get a chance to meet Roy in the next few months.

Ladies from the women’s group worked at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza after their group meeting today. I was told they had a little excitement when their colectivo shuttle broke down on the way back to Cancun. The good news is they made it.

Need help deciding how you are going to join our mission activity…just call us and we will help get you started.

Today’s men’s group lesson was on Fear of Witnessing and I wanted to share it with all of you. Have a great week and see you Sunday at 8:55.

Afraid to Witness for Christ?: 2 Timothy 1:7-9 (NIV) 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.

Everyone knows what it’s like to be afraid. We all have things that we’re afraid of. I can remember as a child being afraid of the dark, a fear I think we have all had at one time or another. For my wife it’s definitely got to be spiders and scorpions!! For some it may be storms, an extreme height, traveling in airplanes, or dogs. There are hidden fears that motivate us too. Fear of failure causes many people to never start, or try anything that is not completely safe. Fear of rejection makes us afraid to do anything that could draw criticism or give someone a chance to laugh at us.

Two kinds of fear: (1) Fear that is good, the fear that keeps us from driving 200 mph, picking up a rattler snake, jumping off the side of a building, or other foolish things and (2) Fear that is harmful; the fear paralyzes us and keeps us from doing things we could or should do.

Satan’s purpose for our fear: Satan is a master at taking advantage of our fears. He can keep us from being an effective Christian or a happy person. He can use the "spirit of fear" to make our lives miserable. He uses our past sins, the potential for failure and the certainty of criticism to turn us away from sharing the “good news” and keep us from being an effective witness. He uses fear to stop us, to blind us and to rob us of our Christian purpose. Many times we do not share our faith with someone because of fear. We ask ourselves, “If I speak out, what will they think of me or what if I turn them off or what if I mess up?” Then you rationalize by thinking that people probably wouldn’t listen to you anyway! These are also common fears Satan uses to make us ineffective witnesses!

Love for God: The more we love God, the less fear we will have. It is a matter of trust. When we realize that God will take care of us, it relieves our fear. Romans 8:28 (NIV)28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Love for God relieves our fears!

Love for others: The more we love others the less fear we will have. Love causes us to overcome our fear for the good of others. Love causes us to tell others about Jesus and to help others in need.

The Gift of a Sound Mind: Most of the time our harmful fears are the result of wrong thinking. But something happens when we are saved and begin to trust God. Our mind is renewed! When we think Biblically, we have a "sound mind". When we have a sound mind, fear just doesn’t make sense.

Conquering fear is not a matter of self determination; it is a matter of dependence on the God whom we can trust and love. It is a matter of belief in His words, His promises, and His gifts to you. It is a matter of recognizing the devils constant attempts at crippling you with fear and God’s majestic grace in giving you power, love and sound mind.

Need a new life? God accepts trade-ins!

2. Twin size cotton sheets
3. Twin size plastic mattress covers (desperately needed)
4. Shoes, any size
5. Diapers, #6 (Costco is currently offering 60 Pesos per case discount)
6. Backpacks

Cherilyn and I have been shopping at Bodega Aurrera and have found substantial savings on many items over Mega and Wal-Mart pricing. Bodega Aurrera is owned by Wal-Mart and sells many of the same items at reduced prices. On one item we usually purchase at Wal-Mart for 55 Pesos, the exact same item at Bodega Aurrera is 45 Pesos and another item is priced at Wal-Mart for 280 Pesos and at Bodega Aurrera for 240 Pesos. Percentage wise, many other items have similar savings. Shopping at Bodega Aurrera also offers a traditional Mexico festive atmosphere and flavor.

Everyone deserves a round of applause for the time and energy put in our mission work last week. Did you realize how long the newsletter was? Many great things were accomplished.

“The highest form of worship is the worship of unselfish Christian service. The greatest form of praise is the sound of consecrated feet seeking out the lost and helpless.” Billy Graham

We received a donation of “99.9% new” Spanish encyclopedias from a friend in Playa del Carmen and delivered them to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza to start the week off right. We also purchased several cases of milk on Sunday and delivered them to the orphanage today.

TJ and his faithful crew have installed most of the new screen doors. This should make a huge difference in the facility’s ability to control mosquitoes. Repair of the bicycles is almost complete and a funny thing is happening. More bicycles are being returned to the orphanage than were picked up. Thanks guys.

Jack Thomas and a friend were spotted talking to Pastor Mancilla and Esther. Jack is getting his “game plan” together.

Lisa, it was nice seeing you, your family and friends in church last Sunday. You know you are always welcome and we would love to see you again.

The Wednesday Ladies Group continues to work their game plan and they are getting a lot of great things accomplished. You will find the ladies working at the orphanage every Wednesday afternoon.

Please welcome John Quigley, a new partner in our mission work. John is a business associate and friend from California that has made a donation to help with our work at the orphanage. Thank you John, it could not have come at better time.

TJ has been spreading “the good news” on local internet forums. His messages cover orphanage updates as well as current information concerning our church. He seems to be connecting with a number of new people.

We take pictures to go on the website, the Blog and also to YouTube. If you visit the orphanage and take pictures, please share them with us.

Believe in the sun even if it isn't shining. Believe in love even when you are alone. Believe in God even when He is silent.

We are sad to report that Jonathan and Abby will be leaving us in the next few days. We appreciate the work they did while they were here and hope they will find a way to join us again. To help memorialize they’re work here, we have added website pictures of them assisting at the orphanage.

If we have missed anyone, we apologize. Please email us an update on what you are doing.

Next Sunday’s service features Pastor Mark Shook. I have previewed the sermon and feel you will enjoy it.

Remember, Sunday Service now starts at 8:55. I hope to see all of you there. Thanks, Tom

2. Twin hojas tamaño del algodón

Gracias, Tom

8/11/2010 Cancun Christian Fellowship Mission Update

We are servants of God by serving others. We share a responsibility to bring God's love to hurting people. We are Cancun Christian Fellowship, an outreach fellowship of believers dedicated to showing people, through our teaching, actions and love, the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

This week started off running with volunteers from Nancy’s school returning to continue their work at the orphanage. Unfortunately Nancy’s daughter Tori is leaving the first of September but Tori is currently planting the seeds that will grow into great things. Thank you Nancy, Tori and all your volunteers.

The “Steering Committee” met this week and came up with our August plan for assistance for the Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. The plan is being implemented and we will keep you posted.

We received this email from Pastor Mancilla from Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza and I wanted to share it with you. (translated from Spanish to English)

“Dear Tom:
Thanks for the mail and information. I thank God for all who are becoming involved with the orphanage and are helping in different ways. What a blessing! Thank you and God bless. Pastor Ascencio M. Mancilla”

We also received a wonderful email from Lori Lee Kelly and I want to share part of the email with you.

“Tom,
As you already know, I went to see the children yesterday and leave the donations that we had. I took my children with me, Keara 17, Elijah 8, and Hannah 6. Elijah is STILL talking about it. Elijah is such an observer, and this really, really interested him, and in a great way. He is beginning to learn to think of others, and this was wonderful. I want to return soon and help out. Keep me on the updates, and let me know what I can do to help out. Lori”

Lori, if you know how to pop Popcorn, Elijah and Hannah might enjoy the cartoons on cartoon night. You are absolutely welcome to join us.

We also received an email from Renee and I will share part of it with you. It also seems I have been spelling her name wrong.

“Hi Tom! I hope that you know that ….what you guys are doing is truly amazing. I will think of you guys fondly and remember all of the great work that you did while I was there. Hope to see you again soon. Renee”

Abby and Jonathan took at least three days out of the schedule this past week to help with cleaning and entertaining the children. They also brought two young ladies from the states that are staying at The ARC Mission and doing God’s work in the area. Eight hands are better than four. Way to go guys.

Lisa Juliot (a new partner in our mission work and friend of Lori Lee Kelly) took various toiletry items to the orphanage this week (something that is needed on a daily basis). Lisa also made an additional trip to the orphanage yesterday, talked to Esther, and came up with a schedule for her to work at the orphanage several days a week. Bless you Lisa. We would love for you to visit our Sunday church service and I know the ladies would like for you to visit their Wednesday group.

I have a one day a month project I am working on that will help the orphanage convert many items they do not need to cash. Once I get the details worked out and approved by Pastor Mancilla, I will share it with you and then I will be looking for volunteers to help.

Speaking of volunteers, we had NO VOLUNTEERS for cartoon night. It would require about 1.5 hours of your time once a month and Cherilyn and I would love to have you join us. Yes, the cartoons are in Spanish.

We received a donation from Anessa Wright, a new partner in our mission work. It could not have come at a better time and we have already identified a current use for it. Thanks Anessa

Cherilyn and I purchased a case of milk and a bag full of cans of Tuna after church Sunday and delivered it today. We found a small folding table at Costco that will be perfect for the projector on cartoon night. We also looked at and priced sheets last Sunday. The selection was poor and the sheets were made mostly of synthetic material so we decided to continue our search. If anyone knows where we can purchase white, twin size sheets at a reasonable price, please let us know.

“I like what Rick Warren says about Christians today: “The last thing many believers need today is to go to another Bible study. They already know far more than they are putting into practice. What they need are serving experiences in which they can exercise their spiritual muscles”.

TJ informed me the screen doors should be ready by the end of this week. I forgot to ask about the awning. TJ, Brian and Bundy recruited a skilled carpenter to assist with the project.

Speaking of TJ, on Monday, he purchased and delivered a case of milk, 4 gallons of mango fruit drink, assorted clothing, sheets and pillow cases. I understand that he also collected another generous donation. TJ, you need to hold “How To” classes.

Volunteers from the Wednesday Ladies Group, worked at the orphanage on Monday and today.

I was told that Heather Martinez was seen working at the orphanage Monday. Heather, it was also very nice seeing you and Danny in church Sunday.

“The number one reason we don’t have the time or energy to serve others is that we’re preoccupied with our own agendas, dreams, and pleasures.”

Senoritas from the Wednesday Ladies Group also went shopping and purchased back to school uniforms, backpacks and supplies for many of the younger children today.

We had a small but faithful gathering at church last Sunday. The sermon was excellent and we had tremendous discussions after the service. You should have been there.

We have not forgotten about the after church pizza party. We are simply waiting for a few souls to return. It will be soon.

DON’T FORGET, CHURCH NOW STARTS AT 8:55. SEE YOU SUNDAY. TOM

Bendice a Lisa.

TJ, debe pulsar "How To" clases.

8/4/2010

We are servants of God by serving others. We share a responsibility to bring God's love to hurting people. We are Cancun Christian Fellowship, an outreach fellowship of believers dedicated to showing people, through our teaching, actions and love, the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

OK, I know you are wondering why I am now sending this out in English and Spanish. And yes, I realize my Spanish is not perfect but I want Pastor Mancilla and Esther to be able to understand everything that is going on.

Lori Lee Kelly delivered lots of wonderful clothes, toys and milk. See what happens when you get your children involved in serving others and then taking a trip to the grocery store. Lori, your help and consideration is greatly appreciated. Welcome to our family.

TJ delivered tooth brushes and socks, tee shirts plus a multitude of pencils, colored pencils, crayons erasers, glue sticks, scissors, coloring books and math flash cards to the orphanage. What a great idea TJ.

Cherilyn and Laurie Lipp took one of the younger boys to the doctor and Laurie purchased the medicine for his treatment. Then they went back to orphanage and scrubbed his room to eliminate the bacteria.

TJ, Bundy and Brian also took furniture, dishes and milk to the orphanage and then began construction of the screen doors and awning. Then they picked up the bicycles that need repair.

I received an email from Roy Elliott (a member of our international family) stating he would be in Playa del Carmen in a few weeks. Hopefully, he will join us in Cancun on several occasions. I have given him several options and I know he will pick one or two of them.

After the men’s group today, we had a great brain storming session on our current mission work and how we could do it better. A lot of fresh ideas came out of the meeting.

LISTEN TO THIS: When I visited the orphanage today, I discovered Nancy Marroquin’s beautiful daughter Tori, along with several students from Nancy’s school, working with the younger children and handling numerous chores. Tori gave me a preview of things Nancy has planned for us. WOW NANCY!

I have developed and added an internet Blogspot to share our mission activity with others around the world. It will be updated weekly.

Jack Thomas will be working on a video that will show on YouTube, the website and the blog. Jack has the knowledge, equipment and desire to accomplish the task. THANKS JACK!

TJ received a generous mission donation and immediately put it to good use purchasing and delivering food, diapers and cleaning supplies. Way to go TJ.

Henry, we miss you and we will be happy when you return!

Final info on Rene: Rene is scheduled to leave the orphanage and return to the United States on August 6th. Rene, we will miss you! We hope you will miss us and return to Mexico when you finish your education.

As you can see, it has been a busy week. A special thanks to all that participated. If I left anyone out, please email me and give me the details and I will include you in the next newsletter.

Esther Mancilla is currently undergoing post-cancer checkups. Please keep her in your prayers.

NANCY WOW!

7/13/2010 Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza Orphanage Update

We serve God by serving others!
“God has given wonderful blessings to each of us and we are called to give back by doing good works and by serving others in His name. What matters is not how long you live, but how you live. What matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of your life.” Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life

It has been a great week! Men from the church worked on things that needed fixing at the orphanage. We are fortunate to have men that have skills in plumbing, electricity and other areas and are willing to give their time to serve others.

Children’s Activity Day is still in the planning stage. Karissa Kerekes, daughter of Patricia Kerekes has volunteered time with the ladies that go for activity day. Activity day will consist of children’s games, face painting and sports activities designed not to kill old men.

On Tuesday Cherie and I met with Esther and Rene and went over procedures for what needed to be done, what we could do and what we wanted to accomplish. We addressed apprehension issues on both sides and layed guidelines for a great relationship. We also agreed that, for various reasons, Wednesday was a better delivery day than Sunday.
I have located and downloaded enough cartoons in Spanish to show over a two evening period. (approximately an hour each evening) Using our projector, computer and speakers, we should be able to show the movies on the outside wall of the building and the children can move around and be cool.

TJ has returned to the states for nine days but will be bringing back assorted children’s items when he returns.  Also, Henry is returning to the states tomorrow and will be gone two months. Two of our best handy men are missing in action.

I took three young boys and Rene to the Puerto Morelos beach for an afternoon of swimming and just being boys. The boys had a great afternoon and ate tasty fish tacos before returning to Bonfil. It was extremely good for my soul as well.

The orphanage has requested that if you plan to visit the orphanage, please contact Cherilyn or me in advance so that we can clear it with orphanage management.

This week, we delivered donations of clothes, toys and milk. We now have an accurate count of how much milk is consumed a week. A very gracious Thank You to everyone that pitched in to help this week. Remember milk, tuna and #5 diapers are always welcome. A children’s High Chair is also needed. If you find one when you are cleaning out your bodega, we have a good home for it.

A special thanks to Ryan, Laurie and Henry for all they did this week.

We serve God by serving others!

“God has given wonderful blessings to each of us and we are called to give back by doing good works and by serving others in His name. What matters is not how long you live, but how you live. What matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of your life.” Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life

After I sent out the update, I received an email from Monette Chain telling me she had a spare high chair and who to call to be able to pick it up. WOW…thanks Monette.

Because of the success of this week’s beach party, Cherilyn, Rene and I will be taking two younger boys for an afternoon of swimming, building sand castles and eating fish tacos next Wednesday.

Cherilyn received a phone call this week from a friend in Houston that is sending a cash donation to support the work at the orphanage.

I received an email from a business associate in Dallas requesting wiring instructions to send a donation for the orphanage.

In our discussions with orphanage management we have learned that they have two full time (6 day a week) employees and one part time employee. One of the full time employees is in charge of preparing meals and we have been told that she is an excellent cook. The other employ is in charge of cleaning. The part time employee takes up slack and covers the weekend off days of the other two ladies. The orphanage has 75% boys and 25% girls with ages eighteen months to seventeen years. There are currently fifteen children living in the home. I was told that many of the very young children get periodic visits from one of their parents (usually the mother). The older the children get the wider the gap is between visits until the parent usually stops visitation completely. Each child has a story of abuse and all of the stories sad at best. One of the boys that I took to the beach last week has scars on his back and damage to his ears from beatings when he was very young.

This is a partial list of areas that need attention and items that are needed every day:
Things that need to be looked at:
The toilets don´t have much flushing power
Many of the rooms need repainting
Broken electrical switch in kid’s room
A locking device on the cabinet below the television
A filing cabinet because there are important papers and Photos everywhere.
Sew strips of sheets together to make whole sheets that cover beds.  They really need new sheets.
The iron needs to be repaired
Everyday Needs:
Shampoo
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Hair brushes
Detangler for brushing girls hair
Sandals
socks for teenagers
permanent markers for marking clothes

Food items:
42 liters of milk a week
cereal
meat
chicken
salchicha
eggs
Maseca
puree de tomate

Other things:
Shoes boy’s size 4, 6 & 8
Shoes girl’s size 6, 8 & 9
Shoes various sizes for young men

Over the next few weeks our mission committee will come up with a defined plan for support that we will send out to you. Your comments to the initial draft will be appreciated.

Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza Orphanage Update 7/31/2010

We serve God by serving others!

“God has given wonderful blessings to each of us and we are called to give back by doing good works and by serving others in His name. What matters is not how long you live, but how you live. What matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of your life.” Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life

I am happy to tell you that Mark Mitchell, a business associate and friend from Dallas has made a welcomed donation to our mission fund. It is his desire that his gift be used to support our mission activity at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. Thank you Mark, we are glad you are part of our family.

Generous missions donations received in church this past Sunday and are very much appreciated. You always amaze me.

I am sad to say that “kids day at the beach” was cancelled today due to weather. The weather did not stop me from spending time at the orphanage and making a list of work that needed to be done.

I received this email from a dear “Senorita” in our church that I would like to share with you and, at the same time, respond to it.

Tom …
I was wondering how was the orphanage able to afford food before you?  Are there other donors?  Just wondering. Also I would love to take these little girls to do princess things.:-)  Maybe we can all take the kids to see Toy Story. I would help fund and take care of the children. I can paint too! Please let me know when!  Thanks ...

Response: Many of you know that the orphanage has been around for 20+ years. It was started by Pastor and Esther Mancilla when a child was left on their doorstep. Over the years, there have been several groups and patrons that helped the orphanage with support in various ways. I told you in a previous email that Costco was donating vegetables and fruit most every Wednesday. Things began to take a negative turn for them about two years ago with the Swine Flu scare and then the economic downtown in the US. Rene and Esther explained that, over the years, many people have indicated that they would help but, after the picture taking and baby hugging was complete, most “good intentioned people” were never seen again. Our goal is to assist the orphanage with some food, supplies, clothing, toys and repair work, not financially operate the orphanage. TJ, Henry and I stay in regular communication about the building maintenance that is currently needed. Unfortunately, TJ and Henry are both currently in the US. TJ will be returning the end of this week. TJ also has a friend that had his heart stolen and he is a good electrician. We will begin the repair process in about ten days. TJ suggested, and I have indicated to Rene, that we would like to take all of the bicycles that need repair (99% of them), fix what is needed and return them. Pastor Mancilla has a full time job and Esther is a recent cancer survivor in less than perfect health and they do not have the ability to fix the bicycles. Most of the things that need to be done are simple…they just need to be done. They are also very rewarding. With the financial donations we received this past week, we should be able to do all the building repair work that needs to be done which includes making three doors, electrical repair and painting.

Now for the bad news…Rene is leaving in a few days and no replacement is in sight. There are two full time employees and one part timer. They all leave around dark. That means that Esther is working with the children all day then taking care of fifteen children by herself all night. Many of the children are very young and young children get sniffles, rashes, bug bites, bad dreams and whatever else that keeps children from sleeping.

I hope that gives you a better idea and maybe answered some of your questions. You can always drop me an email if you have additional questions or have creative ideas.

Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza Orphanage Update 8/1/2010

We are servants of God by serving others. We share a responsibility to bring God's love to hurting people. We are Cancun Christian Fellowship, an fellowship of believers dedicated to showing people, through our teaching, actions and love, the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

A special thanks to Lory Kelly for the children’s toys donation.

TJ has returned safely from the US with a suitcase full of children’s activity items and quickly delivered the items to the orphanage last week. TJ also came back with his head full of creative ideas.

We will be constructing an awning and screen doors, painting, making electrical repairs, repairing bicycles, showing cartoons in the evening, and conducting events for the younger children. Pat Kerekes, now is the time for you to contact Cherilyn to get your daughter set up.  She will be happy to hear from you.

Nancy has some great ideas she is getting ready to try out with children from her school and I know she will have an update for us in the near future.

I have been informed that Roy Elliott's donation to the orphanage is in route to us. Roy is a very special man. He only attended our church one time but his generosity is overwhelming. Roy, you are part of our church and part of our family and we hope to see you again soon.

Cherilyn and I delivered the high chair today that was donated by Matt and Monette Chain. WOW, what a nice high chair. Thanks guys.

Lori Kelly, daughter or Mike and Lory Kelly will be headed to the orphanage this week with milk, clothing and toys. She is as excited as we are. Lori, you are an angel.

We received an email from Katherine this week. She is having a wonderful time in England and will be returning the middle of August.

If you are interested in assisting on cartoon night, let me know.

I had a very pleasant conversation and visit with Pastor Mancilla and his lovely wife Esther today. We could not have picked a better partner to team up with. I am happy to say that Pastor Mancilla has been added to our mailing list because he is now part of our family.

Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza Orphanage Update

2 Chronicles 30:11 - Our task is to invite others to consider God’s actions, his claims and his promises.

Our Mission

We are servants of God by serving others. We share a responsibility to bring God’s love to hurting people. We are Cancun Christian Fellowship, an outreach fellowship of believers dedicated to showing the people of the Yucatan Peninsula, through our teaching, actions and love, the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

I’m Tom Martin, an Evangelist with Cancun Christian Fellowship in Colonia de Pescadores, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Until recently, our objectives had been three-fold: (1) To provide assistance to children of very low to no income families and (2) To provide Christian activities and weekly Christian study groups for men and women (3) along with nondenominational Sunday Christian Church Services I invite you to look at our website, www.cancunchristianfellowship.com to get a better idea of who we are, why we are here and what we strive to accomplish. It’s a simple, two page website, but it accurately describes our goals and Christian mission.

In early 2010, the staff of Cancun Christian Fellowship visited Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, an orphanage south of Cancun in Colonia Alfredo Bonfil. What we witnessed touched our hearts and challenged us to expand our work to an additional area where children truly need our help. After completing due diligence, we confirmed that the orphanage was Christian based, the children were being cared for to the best of management’s ability and they honestly needed our help. Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza has been in operation for twenty+ years and currently cares for fifteen children ages eighteen months to seventeen years. Sadly, most of the children have a history of abuse.

In our current mission work, the small amount of money we receive through donations covers most food, medical expenses and some children’s items with nothing left over. In order to expand our work and offer continued support to the orphanage, we need additional supplies and partners. We are currently providing diapers, wet wipes, diaper rash medication, milk, rice, beans, eggs, pork, beef, chicken, fruit juices, coloring books, crayons, medical examinations and making general repairs to the facility but our resources, for additional assistance, are very limited.

What we desperately need are:
1. Children’s shoes (any size or gender)
2. Children’s clothes (any size or gender)
3. Twin size cotton bed sheets
4. Plastic mattress covers for twin size mattresses

I am not asking your church to buy these items. I am asking that you pass our request on to your church small groups, men's groups and women's groups. We know that many people have outgrown children’s clothing or they are willing to purchase one or two children’s items and drop them off at the church for shipment to us. We will be happy to email updates and photos as often as desired to the groups that participate. Additionally, phone calls and site visits by church members are always welcomed.

There is also a need for mission groups from the church to assist us with repairs and improvements to the orphanage as time and schedules allow.

Please give it some thought. I hope your light will shine on us. If you would like to share your thoughts, have questions, desire additional information, please call me. Thanks to the beauty of the internet, we have a US phone number in our home in Mexico. I can usually be reached at 713-529-8078, and should someone not be available, please leave a message and Cherilyn or I will return your call.

Thank you for listening, your consideration is appreciated. Tom
