“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

If you are considering a commodity donation to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, here are some items that are currently needed:
1. Locking file cabinet
2. Milk / Cheese
3. Children’s clothes and shoes (any size-any gender)

With the help of our Mission Partners, Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered eggs, milk, pork, chicken, cereal and diapers to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week.

Since no one has expressed an opinion concerning a location for our next Sunday luncheon, it looks like we will meet again at Shakey’s Pizza. We will give you more information on a date and time in the near future. We had a great turnout for the last luncheon and hope this one will be even better.

Jim and Ramona Barthel, new Mission Partners from Canada, have joined our family through their financial donation to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. Thank you for helping us serve God by serving others.

Speaking of Canada, Vartan and Cynthia Temorcioglu, new Mission Partners from the Great White North, donated a television and many of the nicest clothes you have seen. They will also be visiting the “children’s home” later this month. Your help is really appreciated.

“Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold -- but so does a hard-boiled egg.”

Five men and attended the men’s group at the Italian Coffee Company today. It was a great lesson on Eternity.
PLEASE NOTE:  Effectively immediately, the Wednesday Christian Men’s Group will be moving to McDonalds at the intersection of Kabah and Nichupte. We will continue to meet at 8:30 and we hope you will join us.

Ladies, if you are not attending the Women’s Christian Group, you are missing out on fellowship with ladies that care about and support you. Cherilyn and Laurie have meeting details they would love to share with you. 8 ladies attended the first monthly evening group last Thursday. The ladies met at the Fresh Café on Kabah and spent a wonderful evening catching up, celebrating current friendships and renewing old friendships. For more information on how you can be part of their fellowship, contact Cherilyn or Laurie.

Cherilyn is making plans for a Thursday Night Women’s Study Group and she is seeking responses from ladies that are interested in attending. If you would like to be a part of the Thursday night group, PLEASE email her at cherilynmartin@inbox.com.

For Sale: We are offering a new 6 burner stove for sale. The stove is a Whirlpool, white with a glass center cover. Pastor Mancilla has priced the appliance at $2,000 pesos. It can be seen at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. If you are interested, please contact Tom Martin to set up an appointment. All proceeds will go directly to our Cancun Christian orphanage.

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, “I used everything you gave me.” Erma Bombeck

People are funny; they want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church.

If you are considering a commodity donation to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, here are some items that are currently needed:
1. Locking file cabinet
2. Whole milk
3. Children’s clothes and shoes (any size-any gender)

With the help of our Mission Partners, Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered eggs, milk, pork, chicken, cereal and diapers to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week.

One of our beloved Mission Partners donated Children’s New Testament Bibles in Spanish and assorted other Spanish reading material to our Cancun Christian Orphanage.

Sunday, February 6th, marks the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of our Christian family’s new English service in Cancun. In the last year, we have seen many of our friends and church family leave Cancun forever. As in the past, we will never seem some of them again except in our fond memories. As we have stated many times, for many of us, our church family is the only family we have here. Fortunately, our Father has a plan for replenishment and new members continue to join our family. I hope that our church family appreciates what we have, when we have it and that 2011 will be a year of membership growth and not decline. When you greet each other in church, hold that hug or handshake a few seconds longer and share your love and happiness with your Christian family. It is our desire that our mission outreach continue to grow as we serve God by serving others. As more of our family members discover the joy of serving others, along with the help of our Mission Partners around the world, we will have the tools necessary to make 2011 the greatest year ever in the history of our church.

Speaking of church, why not bring a friend or neighbor with you and let them meet your Christian family. It might be just what they are missing in their life.

No one has contacted us concerning a good location to have our next church luncheon. Please put your thinking caps on and help us by offering some great ideas.

Quit griping about your church; if it was perfect, you couldn't belong.

Jimmy Williams, a great guy that I am glad to call a friend, has joined our extended family of Mission Partners through his financial donation to our mission outreach. Jimmy, we hope you will visit Cancun and share in our work first hand. You are part of our family.

If you are interested in becoming a “greeter” for groups that visit the orphanage, please contact Cherilyn. She will be happy to let you know when we have a group arriving and your participation would be greatly appreciated.

1/5/2011 Cancun Christian Fellowship Newsletter

1/5/2011

“In the end, a person is only known by the impact they have on others.” Jim Stovall

If you are considering a commodity donation to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, here are some items that are currently needed:
1. Locking file cabinet
2. Diapers size #6 or Jumbo
3. Children’s clothes and shoes (any size-any gender)

With the financial help of our Mission Partners, Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered eggs, milk, pork, cereal and diapers to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week.

Website visits increased again last month. We had 180 visits in December compared to 178 visits in November. We felt that December was probably going to be a slow month due to Christmas activities but we were delighted by the increased readership.

Our mission outreach was truly blessed last week. Three separate groups from the US and Canada visited Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, brought bags full of gifts and spent several hours entertaining the children. All groups found us through our website and all promised to spread the word of our mission outreach to friends, family and church members in their home towns. At this point, our website remains our best source for locating sponsors and Mission Partners and we will continue to work on increasing our internet visibility.

Last week, we told you about our new mentor program as our way of having more personal relationships with the older boys at our Cancun Christian orphanage. Enrique was the first boy we worked with and I could see a difference in the way he related to me on Thursday. This week we worked with Dennis. Our day with Dennis began at 7:45 when we picked him up at the orphanage. During the course of the day, Dennis attended the Wednesday Christian Men’s Group, ate breakfast, visited the print shop to pick up the printing for the Sunday service and then went to Bodega Aurrera to learn how we do our weekly grocery shopping for the orphanage. It goes without saying that we all had a great time.

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved on stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” Pericles

Our old friend Luis Garcia visited the men’s group today and then went with us as we carried out our Wednesday chores. It was great to have him join of our group and we hope he visits us often. Many of you remember him from the old days at Cancun Fellowship Church and then the transition to Community of Faith.

We have received an offer from a group in BC, Canada to come in March to do tile work in the kitchen and downstairs bathrooms at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. They are currently raising money to cover the cost of repairs and their expenses while they are here. I will keep you updated as the plan progresses. The good news is they are offering to do the work that we had discussed doing in 2011.

TJ received donations this week Mission Partners Brian Schaefer and Brant Boston, two men that have been with us from the beginning. Thanks, TJ, Brian and Brant.

“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” Sally Koch

We hope you have enjoyed the new music being offered in the Sunday service. It is our attempt to blend the music to appeal to all age groups in the service as well as offer new selections that might become some of your “old favorites”.

If you would like to be a “greeter” for groups that visit the orphanage, please contact Cherilyn. She will be happy to let you know when we have a group arriving and your participation would be appreciated.

It is time to start thinking about another Sunday luncheon. As you know, our last luncheon was at Shakey’s Pizza in Malecon Americas. The food and service was superb and the location offered sufficient seating for the adults and a playground for the children. It is a new year and we are open to suggestions for a new location. If you have an idea you would like to share, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email or contact me and I will explore your ideas.

We received an email from Juliette Mudge this week and she is enjoying her Christmas visit with her family in Michigan but is anxious to get back to our Yucatan weather.

Six men and one young man attended the men’s group at the Italian Coffee Company today. It was a great lesson on Biblical Stewardship - Giving From the Heart and the discussion was lively. The ladies also had a great meeting renewed old friendships and made plans for the future.

“What we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God.”  Louis Nizer
