Cancun Christian Fellowship Newsletter 4/13/2011

4/13/2011

I worship you Lord! You did not enter your holy city Jerusalem on the back of a war horse, but humbly and on a donkey. You knew that you were surrounded by murderers, yet you came in peace, and by your sacrifice you would utterly conquer death before the week had passed. You, oh Lord, are blessed and worthy of my praise. You have saved your people. I say, "You are my king!"... I long to live in the city where you sit on the throne! Establish your Kingdom, so that your people can live in peace. Jesus, I bow before you, and I will sing your praises until your Kingdom comes and is established, and forever after. David Maddalena

If you are considering a commodity donation to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, here are some items that are currently needed:
1. Milk / Cheese / Eggs
2. Children’s clothes and shoes (any size-any gender)
3. Diapers Size Jumbo
4. Baby clothes for a very young lady

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the sermon will be delivered by Pastor Mike McClenahan with Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Solana Beach, California. And, of course, next Sunday is Easter Sunday and the sermon will be delivered by Pastor Ed Young with Second Baptist Church, Houston, Texas. Special music will be offered Easter Sunday.

Easter Blessings go out to Prince and Kathy Turner, Gary and Marti Mason, Heather and Danny Martinez, Matt and Monette Chain, Harold and Tracy Chapman (along with their extended family), Jack Thomas, Lory Kelly and all other members of our Christian family that are in our hearts but will not in attendance for our Easter service. We wish you were here!

Please join us in extending a Very Special “Thank You” to Katherine Phillips of all she does to make our Sunday service more enjoyable. Katherine is a pleasure to work with and really adds a lot of joy to everything she does.

We wave palms because we have long awaited God's deliverance and now we're within 7 days of it. We wave palms because Jesus shows us life-saving answers when we feel crushed by problems threatening to overcome us. We wave palms because Jesus has set us free from the destructive longings of our fallen nature. We wave palms because, like the pilgrims who came to Jerusalem and gave thanks for their healing by Jesus, we too can really be healed in body, mind, and spirit. Kevin Gray

Volunteers from Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered eggs, pork, milk, chicken and beef to our Christian home this week.

If you have not looked at the new pictures on the website, please do so. Every page of the website (http://www.cancunchristianfellowship.com/) contains interesting photos of your Christian family and Mission Partners serving God by serving others.

TJ, Henry and Tom seem to have standing dinner plans in Cancun every Thursday night. If you would like to join their dinner circle, please contact Tom Martin for time and location details. Dinner topics for discussion are usually very interesting. It’s also a lot of fun to watch Henry’s face when the waiter brings the bill.

Practically everyone has known the taste of Palm Sunday, the sweetness of success and popularity, and nearly all of us have tasted the bitterness of Good Friday, of failure and rejection. What saves us from an endless round of ups and downs, what frees us from the tyranny of events over which we have no control is our commitment to press forward in obedience to God. It is to trust in God's love to bring about Easter morning, knowing that the meaning of life is to be found in the knowledge and love of God. It is also in sharing that knowledge and love with those who accompany us on the way. Rev. Richard J. Fairchild

Trish Gonzalez and her family furnished milk and clothes for our Cancun Christian home this week. Last week, we found out that Trish and her daughters were moving to California so the girls could attend school there. They have been attending our church for six years and we are going to miss them.

Ryan, Laurie and the boys furnished diapers for Casa Hogar Para Ninos Esperanza this week. A special thanks to the Lipps for all they do for our children.

As reported last week, we are currently working on a long range, continuous plan for Mission Partners to come to Cancun and assist us with renovations to Casa Hogar. We now have two Mission Partners that have expressed a sincere interest in being the first to join us in our work. Several different ideas are currently being explored.

We are again looking for a legal size locking filing cabinet for Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. If you have one or know where we can purchase one at a reasonable price, please contact Tom Martin.

Without the way, there is no going; without the truth, there is no knowing; without the life, there is no living. John 14:6

We are again extending an invitation to join our Mission Group welcoming committee at Casa Hogar. Don’t look at it as a chore. It is actually a lot of fun and you don’t know what you are missing. Cherilyn and Tom receive a tremendous amount of joy from the events and we know you will too. You will meet many very nice people and begin forming lasting relationships while serving God by serving others. It is a WIN WIN invitation.

4/6/2011 CCF News Letter

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

If you are considering a commodity donation to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, here are some items that are currently needed:
1. Milk / Cheese / Eggs
2. Children’s clothes and shoes (any size-any gender)
3. Diapers Size Jumbo
4. Baby clothes for a very young lady

This past week, we have been previewing new music and sermons for our Easter service, the most important service of each year. We can assure you the service we selected is a lesson that you will not want to miss and contains a message that will last you a lifetime. We absolutely know you will enjoy it and look forward to seeing you in church Easter Sunday.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

This week Brant and Renee Ackerman, along with their beautiful children, attended our Sunday Service and visited Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, our Cancun Christian orphanage. While at the home, they played with the children and gave them many items brought from the US including diapers. They also graced us with a financial donation from their church along with a personal family donation. They requested their donation be placed in our food fund. We truly enjoyed their companionship and agreed that we wished they lived in Cancun and belonged to our Christian family. We hope to see them again soon and are happy they have joined our extended family of Mission Partners.

Speaking of the food fund, volunteers from Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered eggs, maple syrup, pork, milk, chorizo and beef to the home this week. We also spent time attending to and playing with the children.

The task ahead of us is never as great as the Power behind us.

We had the opportunity to meet and bond with Andrea Riemersma. Andie and a friend have been staying at the home and spending quality time with the children. I know all of you remember Renee Loubert from our initial contacts with Pastor and Esther Mancilla. As it turns out, Andie and Renee were roommates in the US and Renee took Andie’s place at the home when she returned to the US last year. Andie’s friend Ben attended today’s men’s group and helped us with the grocery shopping for the home.

And, speaking of the men’s group, today’s meeting was not the same without Gary Mason in attendance. Gary and Marti are again headed north to their “real world” for approximately eight months and they will be missed.

We are currently working on a long range, continuous plan for Mission Partners to come to Cancun and assist us with renovations to Casa Hogar. There is enough work scheduled to keep us busy for the next year. Pastor Mancilla is working on a plan of action and our first group is expected to arrive Good Friday weekend. We will give you more information as we have it.

God can use you to your full potential. Besides you aren't the message, you are just the messenger.

We had 21 people in church last. Damon Shook offered a great lesson that we all benefited from.

Victoria Alvarez and TJ Carter were Baptized Sunday afternoon in the beautiful cool blue waters of the Caribbean behind Casa Kelly. Many of you showed up for the event and we all thank you for your participation. Cherilyn put a slide show together and we will show it to you in church this Sunday. Sorry, no popcorn or cokes will be available.

We are again extending an invitation to join our Mission Group welcoming committee at Casa Hogar. Don’t look at it as a chore. It is actually a lot of fun and you don’t know what you are missing. Cherilyn and I receive a tremendous amount of joy from the events and we know you will too. You will meet many very nice people and begin forming lasting relationships while serving God by serving others. It is a WIN WIN invitation.

The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.
