Mission Request

I’m Tom Martin with Cancun Fellowship Church in Cancun, Mexico. Cancun Fellowship Church is non-denominational fellowship deeply involved with mission outreach in the Yucatan Peninsula. There is a constant need to help those in need and doing God's work keeps us centered on our true purpose in life. A very large percentage of our population lives in poverty and we feel that children should never suffer when the Lord has provided us with the ability and desire to help them.

Our mission outreach includes primary assistance to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, Cancun’s Christian orphanage, located in Colonial Alfredo Bonfil, Mexico. The "House of Hope and Faith" is operated by Pastor Asencio Mancilla and his wife Esther and was started 21 years ago when someone left an infant on their doorstep.

Volunteers from Cancun Fellowship Church, Cancun Christian Fellowship, Cancun Fellowship Church Wednesday Christian Men’s Group, Cancun Fellowship Church Wednesday Christian Women’s Group, Community of Faith Cancun English Service and our Mission Partners worldwide supply food, clothing, medical treatment, facility maintenance and Christian activities for the wonderful children that our Lord has placed in our care. Ages range from two to seventeen and all have a history of abuse.

With all we have done, we want to do much more and we need your help.

The orphanage currently needs:
1. Size #6 Diapers / Jumbo
2. Books in Spanish and Games
3. Children’s Clothes and Shoes (any size - any gender)

I am not asking you are your church to buy these items. I am requesting that you pass our request on to your friends, church small groups, men's groups and women's groups for consideration. We will be happy to email updates and photos as often as desired to the groups that participate. Additionally, phone calls and site visits by church members are always welcomed.

There is also a need for mission groups from other churches to assist us with repairs and improvements to the orphanage as time and schedules allow.

Please consider our request. We hope your light will shine on us. If you would like to share your thoughts, have questions, desire additional information, please call. We have a US phone number in our home in Mexico. We can usually be reached at 713-529-8078, and should someone not be available, please leave a message and Cherilyn or I will return your call.

Thank you, your consideration is appreciated. Tom

12 29 2010 Newsletter and Mission Outreach Update

12/29/2010

“We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.” Jimmy Carter

If you are considering a commodity donation, here are some items that are currently needed at the orphanage:
1. Locking file cabinet
2. Diapers size #6 or Jumbo
3. Children’s clothes (any size-any gender)

With the help of our Mission Partners, Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered eggs, milk, cheese, cereal and diapers to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week.

TJ, Henry, Cherilyn and I attended the Christmas Eve celebration at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza and our memories of the event will last a lifetime. We hope you feel as proud as we do because, without your help, the children would not felt many of the joys of Christmas. The evening began with the Pastor and Esther taking the children to the Christmas Eve Service at “The Rock” Church. While they were gone, our volunteers finished decorating their home and placed their gifts around the tree. When they returned, we all enjoyed a delicious dinner that had been prepared in advance by the orphanage staff. After dinner, the children opened gifts and felt the feelings of love that all of you helped provide.

Thanks go out to Laurie, Amy and Cherilyn for shopping for the Christmas gifts for the children. The faces of the children, as they opened their presents, prove the ladies did a wonderful job.

“Maturity doesn't come with age; it comes with acceptance of responsibility.” Ed Cole

We have three groups visiting Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week. The first group (from Michigan) visited Monday and provided outside toys and shirts for our children. The second group from Denver visited today and brought nineteen dozen (yes, you read that right) unisex shirts, books, toys and shoes for our children. Only God knows what tomorrow will bring.

AND: TJ arranged for a group to visit the orphanage on Monday to take gifts for the children. As always, thanks TJ.

As you browse the new “Photo Gallery” on the website, you will notice that the three young girls have on new Christmas dresses. The dresses were provided by Terri Kemble, a Mission Partner from the US. I know you will agree that the girls looked beautiful in their new dresses. Thank you Terri!

Our website, http://www.cancunchristianfellowship.com/ has been revised and updated with current pictures of our mission outreach and testimony from groups that visit the orphanage. We have added four pages and more will follow as our mission outreach grows.

This week, TJ and I started a new tradition of taking one of the older boys with us on Wednesday. Today was the first day of our new tradition and Enrique went with us to do our “every Wednesday chores”. After that, we took him to lunch (which he inhaled like a Hoover Deluxe). He did not want to act excited around us but Pastor Mancilla told us he had been very excited about spending the morning with us. The Wednesday visits should prove to be enjoyable as well as educational for the boys. Each of them will be able to see how we do what we do for orphanage and learn from the process. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to hang out with a couple of adults that truly want to be with them. PS: Expect to see Henry added to the mix in the near future. There is no way that he is going to allow TJ and me to have all the fun.

“All of God's people are ordinary people who have been made extraordinary by the purpose he has given them.” Oswald Chambers

Food items should always be delivered on Wednesday. If you take a food donation to the orphanage, please send us an email telling us what you donated. It will keep us from duplicating your donation and allow us to put funds in other needed food areas. If you want to make a food donation but do not have time to go to the orphanage, we will be happy to deliver your donation for you on Wednesday.

If you have a clothes or other commodity donation, please give it to Cherilyn Martin or Laurie Lipp for sorting and distribution.

I met with Luis Garcia last week. Many of you remember Luis and have as much respect for him as I do. The meeting was held to discuss a partnership that would allow Christians in Playa del Carmen to work with us to benefit Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. We agreed to talk again in January, 2011. Luis would like to attend a meeting of our Wednesday Christian Men’s Group, join us as we do our Wednesday chores and visit the orphanage.

A Wednesday Men’s Group is offered by Cancun Christian Fellowship. For information, please contact Tom Martin. tommartin@inbox.com or 998-121-1316.

A Wednesday Ladies’ Group also meets in Cancun. For information, please contact Cherilyn Martin. cherilynmartin@inbox.com or 998-121-1315.

14 people were in church last Sunday. If you were not, we missed you. Remember, church now meets at 10:00 AM, Floor B1 at Hotel B2B behind the bull fight arena just east of Avenida Bonampak and Malecon Las Americas. We hope to see all of you Sunday. Tom

Serving God by serving others

12/23/2010

Despite current economic conditions, 2010 has been a great year for Cancun Christian Fellowship. With the help of volunteers from the Cancun Wednesday Christian Men’s Group, the Cancun Wednesday Christian Women’s Group, Community of Faith Cancun English Service and our worldwide Mission Partners, we have been able to substantially increase our assistance to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, Cancun’s Christian orphanage.  Our mission activity has greatly improved the lives of children that truly need our help.

For all that have been instrumental in our ongoing mission success, we offer a sincere THANK YOU and we hope you join us to make 2011 a triumphant year as servants of  God by serving others.

We received a nice letter from Gloria Derksen, a mission partner from Canada, that we would like to share with you:

Hi Cherilyn,

Thank you for the email - great to hear from you... we arrived home about

1:30 this am - with a suitcase full of warm memories...:) Yes, I would be happy to share our experience with you, will try to get that done sometime this week...We also went back to the orphanage on Saturday, just before we dropped off James and Tammy and John and Shannon at the airport. Abe and I and Neil and Doreen travelled home yesterday. On Saturday we dropped off the food that we had left when we checked out of our condo, plus we had picked up some more yard toys for the kids, as well as some sheets and towels for Ester and a baby gift for Lorena..... we got to meet Lorena as well...We are blessed and I will definitely share more with you in the coming days...We also were blessed to be part of your Sunday morning worship service...thank you for making us feel so welcome :) God bless the awesome work you do. In His grip, Gloria

We offer a very special thanks to Wendy Sombito. Wendy is our Mission Partner Angel with Second Baptist Church in Houston. Wendy goes above and beyond to provide us with quality services like the great Christmas service we viewed this past Sunday. Her compassion for our Christian family is always exemplary.

The website will be revised and updated before the end of the year reflecting new pictures of the Christmas Party and Christmas Eve Dinner at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. We are also adding a 3rd photo gallery page and a 4th page for mission activity testimony. We receive numerous emails from mission partners and guests that we would like to share.

Nina continues to do marvelous things for Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza from US. It seems she has mastered the art of collecting donations for the children. Thanks for all your help Nina, it really makes a difference.

Carolyn and Don Pfennig, Mission Partners from Texas, have graced us with another donation to our mission activity at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, our Cancun Christian orphanage. Your ongoing faith and support is absolutely appreciated.

If you recently received a popup to update RealPlayer on your PC and downloaded the new version, you may have noticed some changes that you liked and some you disliked. If the dislikes outweigh the likes, here is how you correct the problem by returning to RealPlayer SP. Filehippo.com offers downloads of version SP 1.1.4 and SP 1.1.5. Either version will correct the problem of not being able to export your playlist as well as other irritating issues associated with the new version.

While we are talking about PC issues, you may also have received a popup to download Internet Explorer 9 Beta, Microsoft’s newest browser. If you downloaded the new browser, you may have discovered that Microsoft has not worked all the bugs out of the browser yet. In order to return to your old browser (and the only way I could figure out after hours of trying to download my previous browser) is to click on Control Panel, then double click on the Programs and Features Icon. Next, move to the left side of the page and find View Installed Updates and click on it. That will take you to all the updates that have been added to your computer by Microsoft. Scroll down until you find the added update of Windows Explorer 9. Click on it then click on Uninstall. It will take a few minutes and you will have to restart your computer but it will reinstate your old browser and you will not lose any of your stored information.

It has been a great year for Community of Faith Cancun English Service as well as for our mission activity. We have accomplished a lot and we hope you feel as much personal satisfaction for 2010 and encouragement for 2011 as we do. All accomplishments were possible because of your continued support. Tremendous thanks go out to our church members, the Wednesday men’s group and Wednesday women’s group and to our Mission Partners around the world. Please join us in making 2011 another wonderful year.

If you have a non-food donation (clothing, toys, books, games etc) please bring the item(s) and give them to Cherilyn or Laurie for sorting and distribution. It will allow us to make better use of donated items.

I am very pleased to tell you that Daren and Chris Collymore have increased their financial commitment to our mission activity. Daren is currently working in a combat zone in the middle east while his beautiful wife takes care of things at home in Texas. I have known and loved Daren for more years than I like to count and I am proud to call him a friend and mission partner. Thank you for your continued faith in our work at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza.

Most of you know that Nina and her husband recently returned to the US but their faith and commitment to our work did not end there. Nina rounded up everyone she knew and has forwarded 2 great donations to our mission activity. Nina, thanks for all you do for the children. We hope to see you back soon.

Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered, diapers, baby oil, diaper rash medication and baby lotion to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week.

Choose goodness! Go without a dollar before you take a dishonest one, be overlooked before you boast and confess before you accuse.

Ladies from the Wednesday Christian group finalized there shopping for children’s Christmas at the orphanage. They have really done a marvelous job and deserve everyone’s congratulations.

Pastor Mancilla’s church, THE ROCK, is offering Christmas music Saturday night, December 18th at their facility between the bull fight arena and the B2B Hotel. The music starts at 6:00. Cherilyn and I plan to attend and we hope you join us.

An anonymous member of our church increased their commitment to the orphanage through a donation to our mission work. Thank you for recognizing the importance of our mission activity. We appreciate the contribution and are grateful that you’re family is part of our Cancun family. I trust you realize how much we appreciate your donation as well as your personal labor.

TJ had a great time talking to a fellow passenger on his recent flight to the US and managed to secure a donation for our mission activity at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza.   Everyone is fair game to TJ.

Very few of you had the opportunity to meet Victoria Dreckmann when she visited the orphanage several months ago. If I remember correctly, she found us through TJ’s postings on the internet. While visiting Cancun, TJ and I assisted her with a trip to the orphanage where she presented the younger children with stuffed animals that had been made by children that she works with. I am happy to tell you that Victoria’s commitment to our work did not end with presents. Victoria, her husband Daniel recently made a substantial contribution to our work at the Cancun Christian orphanage. Thank you Victoria, your faith in our Christian family is overwhelming.

Roy Elliott, one of our foreign mission partners, has again increased his commitment to our mission work. Thank you Roy and we hope to see you again very soon.

God does not judge the condition or quality of His church by how good the meetings are on Sunday morning, but by how good the people are on Monday morning.

12/8/2010 Newsletter and Update

12/8/2010

“This is the beginning of a new day. God has given you this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important, because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that you have traded for it. You want it to be gain, not loss; good, not evil; success, not failure; in order that you shall not regret the price you paid for it.” Dr. Heartsill Wilson

“As we prepare for our traditional celebrations, let us remember those who will not be looking forward to this festival. Let us remember too how Jesus identified with the oppressed and the homeless. Let the joy of the festival touch more of the people of our world this year than ever before. May God be glorified and may people of good will once again experience His peace.” Denzil John

New mission partners, “Open Hearts” Sunday School Class in Houston took up a collection for the children’s Christmas. This represents the true spirit of Christmas and serving God by serving others. Thank you!

Cancun Christian Fellowship donated and delivered Beef, Pork, Chicken, Chorizo and Cereal to our Cancun Christian orphanage Wednesday.

“In the same manner in which we clean and prepare our homes in the anticipation of welcomed guests and family members this Christmas season, let us also prepare our hearts in anticipation of the Lord's coming. Christ, our most honored and eagerly anticipated guest, desires to meet with us in a heart prepared for his arrival.” Katherine Walden

We had several communications from Renee Loubert this week. It is always nice to hear from her and to remain thankful for the work she did while living at the orphanage.

We are thankful for a children’s Christmas donation from mission partners Joe and Grace Holland of Cancun. Your faith in our mission activity is appreciated.

Pastor Mancilla is at home recovering from surgery. We visited with him Sunday afternoon and the recovery process appears slow. Please keep him in your prayers.

If you have a non-food donation (clothing, toys, books, games etc) please bring the item(s) and give them to Cherilyn or Laurie for sorting and distribution. It will allow us to make better use of donated items.

Nina is working on a wonderful Christmas surprise for us. If I told you about it today, it would not be a surprise.

“Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting.” Elizabeth Bibesco

TJ donated soap, vegetables and children’s clothing this week. As always TJ, your contribution is appreciated.

The Mission Activity Committee met today to approve expenditures for November and a budget for December. Thanks to you and our mission partners around the world, we continue to serve God by serving others.

Tonight was “Mickey Mouse Celebrates Christmas” night at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza and it was FANTASTIC! 14 mission workers showed up to play Santa’s Helper for the children. Anna handled the face painting, Nancy, Cherilyn and Amy, Alia, Katherine and others worked on crafts with the children (Nancy was also spotted decorating the Christmas tree). Two young ladies from Nancy’s school were also there to help with children’s games. Harold and Henry were the wing nuts that held it all together. A special thanks to Playa del Carmen friends of Cancun Christian Fellowship for furnishing the entertaining movie. The ladies also served cookies, cake, popcorn and drinks. Needless to say the children were excited. A special thanks to everyone that participated.

Of course, food items should always be delivered on Wednesday. If you take a food donation to the orphanage, please send us an email telling us what you donated. It will keep us from duplicating your donation and allow us to put funds in other needed food areas. “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10

November website activity: November was a great month for website visits. A total of 165 people from 10 countries went on line and looked at our mission outreach activity. That compares to 127 people last month. We have increased recorded views every month. As always, it’s just a matter of time. A special thanks to all the volunteers that do SO MUCH for “our children”.

In keeping with the season, “Cartoon Night” at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza will be Mickey Mouse Celebrates Christmas night. Please put Wednesday, December 8th on your calendar. The movie duration is 77 minutes and, as always, Santa needs helpers. Anna Ruiz has volunteered to be there to do face painting and children’s activities. We will start around 4:30 with a Christmas party for the children and then move in to the movie.

Pastor Mancilla is at home recovering from surgery. Please keep him in your prayers.

Playa del Carmen friends of Cancun Christian Fellowship have increased their commitment and donation to our mission outreach to provide Christmas for the children at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. It’s great to have friends you can count on. I am always amazed. You’re fantastic.

SPONSOR A CHILD FOR CHRISTMAS

It’s that time of year when we need to think how we can make a difference in one child’s life for Christmas. We are asking for Sponsors for the children at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, the Cancun Christian orphanage. We have 14 children’s wishes to make come true so please search your heart and help with your $50.00 donation for one child. You can give in person or through our PayPal account (tom@cdymexico.com). Thank you for helping to make these children’s wishes come alive.

If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

Cancun Christian Fellowship donated and delivered Beef, Chicken, Eggs, Cereal, Lunch Box Snacks and Rice to our Cancun Christian orphanage today. We also delivered clothes, curtain fabric and the fitted plastic mattress covers that had been donated by Don and Carolyn Pfennig.

Many members of Community of Faith English Church have made “Children’s Christmas” donations and they are dearly appreciated. For numerous reasons, the newsletter will only reflect acknowledgement information concerning donations from our non-church “Mission Partners”. They are the ones that give to us by FAITH not sight, having confidence in our work and what we strive to accomplish as servants of God serving others.

Teresa Weatherly, one of our truly devoted mission partners in the US, has blessed us with another financial donation, this one to be used for the children’s Christmas. As always Teresa, your continued confidence in our mission activity is greatly appreciated.

In keeping with the season, “Cartoon Night” at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza will be a little different in December. A mission partner from Playa del Carmen as furnished us with a DVD copy of Mickey Mouse Celebrates Christmas. The movie duration is 77 minutes and, as always, we are looking for helpers. Please contact us for details.

Children’s Christmas sponsors: It is a pleasure to acknowledge new mission partners that have sponsored childen for Christmas this past week. Please welcome to our family Hollis and Sue Scott, Mike and Pam Harris, Kevin and Sharon Harris, Joey and Tiffeni Briones, Friends of Cancun Christian Fellowship in Playa del Carmen and Santa’s Helpers with the Cancun Wednesday Ladies’ Group. It goes without saying that it would not be Christmas for the children without your help. Thank you.

WE HAVE WONDERFUL NEWS! Wendy Sombito, our Guardian Angel with 2nd Baptist Church in Houston, will furnish Dr. Ed Young’s Christmas Service sermon for us this year. You enjoyed Dr. Young’s Easter sermon last year and his Christmas sermons are equally as good. It is faithful servants like Wendy that keep us going. Wendy, you really are our ANGEL.

We are looking for a Christmas Tree for Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. If you have an extra one, desire to donate one or know someone that would like to donate one, please have them contact us or tell us so we can contact them. Cancun Christian Fellowship will be furnishing new lights, ornaments and decorations.

Pastor Mancilla donated several Children’s Bibles to Community of Faith English Church. The Bibles are in English and make bedtime Bible reading with your younger children enjoyable. I can testify that they are great reading for adults also. If you would like a Children’s Bible, please send me an email and I will be happy to give it to you in church (while supplies last).

You are the only Bible some may ever read. The greatest testimony you have is not what you say you have, but how you live.

If:
• If you enjoy attending church services
• If you find our new location comfortable
• If you feel welcome
• If you feel like you are part of beneficial mission activity
• If you find the sermon content meaningful
• If you feel your opinion matters
• If you feel you are part of a Christian family
Then: Why not invite someone to attend church services with you?  When Christ is at work in your life it is your responsibility to tell someone! It may be just exactly what they need to hear, to give them faith that God can work in their life, too!

I am happy to tell you that Dan Grounds, a twenty+ year friend, fishing and hunter partner from Texas, that has been on our mailing list for some time, recognized the value and need of our mission work and acknowledged it with a welcomed donation to benefit the children at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, the Cancun Christian orphanage. Dan, from the bottom of our hearts…THANK YOU, your generosity is overwhelming!

Members of our church received this warm email wish from the Pastor Mancilla family:

Dear Pastor Tom & wife:
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. It is just a beautiful day. We hope you will all find yourselves around the table with family or friends this Thanksgiving day and be thankful for each other and for what we have, and for God's love to us. "Happy Thanks Giving from the Mancilla"
Pastor. Ascencio M. Mancilla.

All members of Community of Faith English Church have been invited to have Christmas Eve Dinner with Pastor and Esther Mancilla and the children at our Christian orphanage. Cherilyn and I have made plans to attend. If you and your family would like to join us, please tell us in advance so we can give Esther a “head count”. We hope to see you there.

Leoncio and Amy Dominguez and their two children just moved from Tennessee to Cancun and visited our church last Sunday. It is nice to see new “young Christians” attending our service. Please welcome the Dominguez family to our family.

God is in control and Satan is on the prowl. Be humble before God and be alert to Satan's devices.

“If you are born once, you will die twice. If you are born twice, you will die once"   Remember Sunday’s sermon?

If you have a non-food donation (clothing, toys, books, games etc) please bring the item(s) and give them to Cherilyn or Laurie for sorting and distribution. It will allow us to make better use of donated items.

Of course, food items should always be delivered on Wednesday. If you take a food donation to the orphanage, please send us an email telling us what you donated. It will keep us from duplicating your donation and allow us to put funds in other needed food areas. If you want to make a food donation but do not have time to go to the orphanage, we will be happy to deliver your donation for you on Wednesday.

This Sunday, November 28th is Communion Sunday at church. We will be viewing a special service, “Know That You Know” by Dr. Ed Young, Second Baptist Church Houston. I review the sermon yesterday and found it to be very meaningful.

If you were not in church last Sunday, we missed you. Remember, church now meets at 10:00 AM, Floor B1 at Hotel B2B behind the bull fight arena just east of Avenida Bonampak and Malecon Las Americas. We hope to see all of you Sunday. Tom

And for my friends that don’t know You, I pray that You would save them too!

SPONSOR A CHILD FOR CHRISTMAS

It’s that time of year when we start to think how we can make a difference in one child’s life for Christmas.

New mission partners, Jim and Linda Lipp made a financial contribution to the children’s Christmas at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza. Your contribution is truly appreciated and we hope to see you soon.

You will never know He is all you need until He is all you have. And when He is all you have, then you will know He is all you need!

Cancun Christian Fellowship donated and delivered Pork, Chicken, Beef and eggs to our Cancun Christian orphanage today.

A children’s Christmas donation was received from Brian Schaefer, a loyal mission partner from Cancun. Brian has helped us in the past and his continued support is truly appreciated.

Brant and Claudia Boston, also Cancun mission partners, blessed us with a donation for the children’s Christmas. Thank you for helping to make this the best Christmas ever for the children at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza.

The Wednesday women’s study group donated Christmas dresses for the young girls at the orphanage. Laurie Lipp’s mother, Terri Kemble, purchased the dresses in the US and ladies from the group delivered them today

When you kneel before God you can stand before anyone!

Feedback concerning our new church location has been very positive. Most find it more convenient and all agree the acoustics are much better.

The bicycles that TJ and Henry repaired are holding up well and are getting constant use.

A mission group from the US worked at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza last week and did a great job of repainting the interior of the lower level of the orphanage.

All members of Community of Faith English Church have been invited to have Christmas Eve Dinner with Pastor and Esther Mancilla and the children at the orphanage. Cherilyn and I plan to attend. If you and your family would like to join us, please tell us in advance so we can give Esther a “head count”. We hope you join us.

You are no fool when give what you cannot keep, to gain what you cannot lose.

I received an email from Kathy Turner stating that she had procured several sets of twin bed sheets for the children’s beds at the orphanage. She will deliver them on their next church visit. Twin sheet sets are always a welcomed item if you run across them at garage sales.

New mission activity pictures have been posted to the website this week. You can view them by clicking http://www.cancunchristianfellowship.com/ . It will take you directly to the website. Added was a great picture of Pastor Mancilla, Henry and TJ at work and some of the young children eating spaghetti.

If you have a non-food donation (clothing, toys, books, games etc) please bring the item(s) and give them to Cherilyn or Laurie for sorting and distribution. It will allow us to make better use of donated items.

SPONSOR A CHILD FOR CHRISTMAS

It’s that time of year when we start to think how we can make a difference in one child’s life for Christmas. Thank you for helping to make these children’s wishes come alive.

Please note: Community of Faith Church Sunday services are now being held at the Hotel B2B behind the Bull Fight Arena. We are meeting in room B1 and the services begin at 10:00 AM. For those of your with young children, there is a nursery in room B2.

We are called to influence the world, not to be influenced by the world

We have received a welcomed financial donation from Kay and Bill Gibbs, new mission partners from the US. The Gibbs requested their donation be used to purchase Christmas gifts for the children at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza, “the Cancun Christian Orphanage”. Thank you for your assistance.

Cherilyn has started making special ornaments for the children’s Christmas tree this week. Each ornament will have the picture of one of the children on it so they will each have their own ornament on the tree.

Kathy and Prince made a financial donation to our mission activity and it could not have come at a better time. Guys, you are the best. Many thanks for your continued confidence.

Speaking of the Turners, they are among a handful of senior members of our church. Nancy Marroquin, Ryan Lipp and the Turners have all been with our church over ten years. They have remained loyal through name changes, pastor changes and many location changes. You see them in church on Sunday but did you know that they are part of the select few that helped hold it all together. Thank you so very much.

Don’t tell God how big the storm is – Tell the storm how big your God is

Cancun Christian Fellowship donated and delivered cereal, maple syrup and eggs to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza today.

Henry and TJ again took time out of their schedules to repair doors at the Cancun Christian orphanage. This time I did have my camera and pictures will be posted on our website. Please check our site to see men at work.

In the past ten days, we have mailed out over 500 mission request letters. Website and Blog Spot readership has grown tremendously this month. Face Book has also been added to the Cancun Christian Fellowship Blog Spot to make it easier for some “Techies” to keep up with our activities. If you have a minute you might find it interesting reading.

Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows but only empties today of its strength

Trish and her daughters donated a case of milk and requested that we deliver it to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza for them. Thanks for the donation Trish, we delivered it for you on Monday.

TJ located, donated and he and Henry delivered a refrigerator to the orphanage this week. They have been short on refrigeration for some time now. Now that is Christian teamwork in action.

Your Mission Activity Committee met today. A plan of action for the month of November was agreed on and will be implemented. Christmas and the orphanage was also discussed and agreed on. Thanks to all members of the committee for your continued support.

"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." Mother Teresa

Please note: Community of Faith Church services are moving to Hotel B2B behind the Bull Fight Arena this week (November 7th). We will be meeting in room B1 and the service will begin at 10:00 AM. We feel the room will be much more “user friendly” and we absolutely KNOW the acoustics will be better. We are doing a “dry run service” to make sure we are ready to go this Sunday.

Our very own Juliette donated a case of milk to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza and asked that we deliver it this Wednesday. Thanks bunches Juliette.

New mission partners Joe and Grace Holland made a welcomed financial donation this week. The funds were used to purchase two cases of milk that were delivered today. The Holland’s confidence in our mission activity and financial support is greatly appreciated. Welcome to our mission family!

Cancun Christian Fellowship donated and delivered four kilos of ground beef, five kilos of chicken, five kilos of pork, three pallets of eggs and five boxes of lunchbox size snacks to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza today.

We can't change the hearts of people, but can do what's in our hands and hearts, by sharing God's perfect love with others and letting that love be expressed in our behavior.

At the close of church last Sunday, we discussed the changes made in the Sunday service and the response was lively. We will be running the new service format for several weeks and then we are looking for feedback on the changes and/or additional changes you would like to see.

I received a surprise email last week from Carolyn Pfennig, our newest mission partner in the United States. The Pfennigs are on our mailing list and Carolyn informed me that she had purchased all the plastic mattress covers needed for the younger children at the orphanage. She will be shipping them to us in the next few days. Thank you so very much Carolyn. The covers WILL make a huge difference in the ongoing health of the children.

TJ continues to post updated information about our church and our ongoing mission activity on chat boards around Cancun. As TJ wrote me, “Every little bit helps”. If you visit chat boards dealing with life in Cancun, please take a lead from TJ and tell others about the church, what we are doing and extend an invitation to join us. You never know who you will touch.

The men’s group is presently studying Evangelism, Witnessing, Testimony and Discipleship and what God expects us of us as Christians. It is our responsibility to tell others about the life changing power of a relationship with Jesus.

"As soon as a man has found Christ, he begins to find others." Charles Spurgeon

TJ picked up and delivered two more bicycles to the orphanage today. One was a small girl’s bicycle and the other was a small boy’s bicycle. TJ is doing his best to keep all bicycles in working order and his efforts are appreciated.

Website Update: Our website and Blog continues to gain readership. We feel that most views are from people that we mailed mission requests to. Here is the way it breaks down:
August: 83 Views
September: 111 Views
October: 127 Views

With viewers from: US, Canada, Argentina, China, UK, Colombia, New Zealand, Australia, Finland, Japan, Slovenia, Denmark, Mexico, Israel, South Africa and Russia.  It’s just a matter of time!

The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.

We received another financial donation from Roy Elliott, our UK mission partner this week. Roy has designated that his donations be used in our mission work with the orphanage. Many thanks go out to Harold and Tracy Chapman and to Katherine Phillips for their generous donations and continued support of our mission activity. Their financial and physical contributions show the true meaning of “Serving God by Serving Others.”

Monday night was Cartoon Night at Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza and the report is excellent. We played 41 minutes of Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Road Runner and Woody Woodpecker cartoons to entertain the children. We also supplied them with assorted fruit drinks and cookies to complete their evening. Our mission volunteers included Harold and Tracy, Katherine, Karen, Cherilyn and Tom and five eager students from Nancy’s school. WOW! Thanks to everyone that had a hand in making the evening special.

Our friend Henry donated and delivered two cases of milk to the orphanage this week. Henry, as always, thanks.

We are very happy to tell you that we have received an additional donation along with donation commitments for the remainder of 2010 from Roy Elliott, our valued mission partner from the United Kingdom. Roy, your continued support and monthly commitment is a dream come true for our mission work. Thank you for realizing the importance of serving God by serving others.

We are also pleased to report that we have received an additional donation from Teresa Weatherly, a member of our mission family in Houston. Thank you so much for your continued faith in our service to God.

Cancun Christian Fellowship purchased and delivered five kilos of beef, five kilos of pork and three pallets of eggs to Casa Hogar para Ninos Esperanza this week.

Nina purchased and donated diapers, books and games to our mission work. All are useful and needed items. Thanks Nina, we will miss you in your absence.

TJ purchased and delivered two cases of milk today. We are glad you are back TJ.

Interesting information: In the last three months our website has been viewed by people in the Unites States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Russia, Columbia and Argentina. I cannot explain Russia, Columbia and Argentina but I feel the others are connected with our mission request letters. As we have previously discussed, our mission request letters are sent to churches in English speaking countries around the world on a weekly basis.

Thought for the week: Have you wondered how we are able to reach so many people for financial donations. The truth is we do not ask anyone for financial donations. We put friends, relatives, acquaintances and business associates on our mailing list and send them our newsletter every week. We let the newsletter do our talking for us. We have found that once people see what we are doing and that we genuinely need help, many are happy to assist us in our mission activity. Please feel free to forward our weekly newsletter to people on your mailing list. You will be amazed at how our Lord will work through you to accomplish miracles.

REMEMBER: “God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supplies.” Hudson Taylor

TJ has returned from the US and has hit the ground running. I received several positive emails from TJ in his absence and it is good to have him back.

If anyone runs into Jack Thomas, tell him we miss him and hope to see him soon.

Also, if you see Luis Sosa and his wife, let them know that we have two warm chairs waiting for them on Sunday.

If you have a non-food donation (clothing, toys, books, games etc) please bring the item(s) to church and give them to Cherilyn or Laurie for sorting and distribution. It will allow us to make better use of donated items.
